Writings – Recent Papers, Book Chapters and Books
I have been writing research papers in astrophysics, as well as book chapters and monographs on various topics related to higher education and astronomy and include examples of a few of those pieces below.
We recently published an article in the Astrophysical Journal with student authors Taiga Morioka and Jett Facey from SUA class of ’21. The article is entitled “Multi-wavelength Photometry and Progenitor Analysis of the Nova V906 Car” and a link to the article is below:

I recently published a book entitled STEM Education for the 21st Century, which was published by Springer, Inc. It includes an overview of diversity and inclusion in STEM education, theories of learning, a review of new types of active learning in science courses, new types of engineering education, a review of global interdisciplinary science curriculum, an overview of online education and some thoughts about the future of STEM education. Recent paper on Supernova 2017cbv with student author Jerrick Wee (Yale-NUS College), submitted to Astronomical Journal. The article is entitled Optical and Infrared Photometry of the nearby SN 2017cbv and was written with three of my Yale-NUS College students, who did the initial work as part of their astronomy class in 2017, and completed the paper with me in the summer and academic year after I came to Soka University.

Speeches and Talks
During the academic year, I am honoured to give short speeches to the Soka University community, as well as to represent Soka University at various higher education and science conferences. Below are copies of some of the talks given during those events, and links to the conference or meeting where they were given. Also please note – written versions of the talks are more complete expositions of the subject than may have been actually uttered, either due to time constraints or lack of eloquence! The written versions also have references and footnotes, which I hope are helpful.
